Happy New Year!

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ~Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV

I spent the last few days of 2017 and the beginning of the New Year in the mountains with my family. As I prepared to leave, I did so knowing I needed to prep for our return when the schedule would begin again. I’m so glad I arranged things ahead of time. I function better with structure and order.

Coming home to a straightened house with Christmas put away helped me to focus better on beginning 2018 with a fresh start. There is something about those words fresh start that resonate with me, much like God’s mercies are new every morning. I love the idea of beginning again. So often I mess up, I say and do things I shouldn’t. You too?

Sin blocks our relationship and causes a barrier between us and God. But he reminds me, his mercies are new every morning. I just need to come to him with those things I’ve done, confess them, and ask his forgiveness. God makes it simple to have a relationship with him. He wipes our slate clean when we confess our sins. We get to begin again. In this new year, confessing our daily mess-ups keeps our relationship with God and others right.

Speaking of relationship, do you know a newlywed couple? Are you a newlywed? Do you know someone who just became engaged? You can help start them off to a fulfilling lifelong journey of praying for their marriage and help their relationship from the outset.

Newlyweds who pray for their marriages will see that the best way to keep harmony in their marriage is through prayer.

The Newlywed Book of Prayers, The Husband and Wife’s Versions, offer twelve topics, lots of scripture, and sample prayers for getting off on the right track. You can read more on the book page. Books

In this new year, as you seek God and spend time in his presence, ask him for direction for your relationships. If you need restoration, ask him for that too. He is faithful to do more than we could think to ask him for.
